Pigs Will Fly! When We Find A Cure for Diabetes

Join us poolside to enjoy an evening of great food, bid on some wonderful silent auction items, hear the latest news and achievements in our path to a cure and help us celebrate how far we have come.
All proceeds from this event will go to support research partnerships on the path to find a cure for diabetes.

Tee Up at the Path to a Cure Golf Tournament

The District 5M10 Lions invite us to join them for the first ever annual Path to a Cure golf tournament presented by District 5M10 Lions. This fun afternoon will feature a scramble format tournament. An evening of music and dancing with the Lions is also planned.
All proceeds from this event go to the Minnesota Lions Diabetes Foundation to support diabetes-related service projects.

Kids Showing They Care
AHS Performing Arts will be performing AIDA in partnership with JDRF this spring. 50 cents from every ticket sold AND every flower sold will be donated to JDRF. AIDA won a 2000 Tony award for Best Original Musical Score with music and lyrics by Tim Rice and Elton John. AHS Performing Arts are excited to be performing this contemporary musical at Anoka High School and to be supporting JDRF. Please come join us!

Polaris provides equipment for the NAC to clean the ice, move people, and is now offering an ATV in a raffle! All registered teams automatically receive 10 tickets for the drawing, and if the team makes it to the Championship round will receive another ten tickets to improve their chances of winning the machine. SPRING POINT PROJECT ANNOUNCED AS FINALIST FOR NINTH ANNUAL TEKNE AWARDS

MHTA will recognize Minnesota�s top technology companies and individuals at the Oct.30 awards ceremony

Spring Point Project was named as an emerging company finalist in the biotechnology category for the 2008 Tekne Awards, which will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Oct. 30. The Tekne Awards recognize Minnesota companies and individuals who have shown superior technology innovation and leadership.

Presented by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) in partnership with Enterprise Minnesota and LifeScience Alley, the Tekne Awards annually recognize Minnesota�s leading technology users and developers in innovation, development, education, commercialization and management of technology in Minnesota. A list of finalists is available online at www.tekneawards.org.

On Oct. 30, one recipient from a pool of three finalists will be named in 17 categories at the Awards ceremony. Award categories recognize leaders and technology businesses that are emerging (with annual revenues under $50 million) and established (with annual revenues of $50 million or more).

This year�s Tekne Awards ceremony will be emceed by Kerri Miller, host of �Midmorning� and �Talking Volumes� on Minnesota Public Radio.




Change a Life Sponsor a Pig Poolside Party
For the past seven years, a group of mothers of diabetic children in the Twin Cities has sponsored a silent auction to benefit diabetes research. This year�s event, Change a Life Sponsor a Pig, benefited Spring Point. More than 100 people attended event and over $30,000 was raised from the event to support the work of Spring Point. The poolside party and silent auction was held on June 29th at a private residence on Lake Harriet and included an evening of live music, food, and speeches from Dr. Bernhard Hering, Dr. David Sutherland, and Dr. Henk Schuurman, and concluded with a silent auction. Spring Point staff attended the event and had the opportunity to meet the event hosts and other supporters. Spring Point would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the hosts of this event: Connie and Lin Branson, Ellie and Dan Cadmus, Donna and John Hill, Janet Martin and Deborah Weston.




2008 Golf Classic �Fore� Diabetes Research
This year the number of golfers doubled to 270 by adding a morning round called Jeff�s Derby in honor of our friend and Board Member, Jeff Dobbs. The day was filled with golf, great food and wonderful support for the work of Dr. Sutherland, Dr. Hering and Spring Point Project as we enjoyed ourselves at Town and Country Club. Thanks to our Tournament sponsors Ryan Companies and Pro Staff. Nearly $500,000 was raised, bringing the total to $4 million since 1997. Jeff Passolt was the Master of Ceremonies of the evening program. Dr. Selwyn Vickers unveiled the Dobbs-Sutherland Chair for Diabetes Research. Partners on the Shortest Path to the Cure Reception, September 16, 2007
At the occasion of the Joint Transplantation Conference, held under chairpersonship of Dr. Bernhard Hering in Minneapolis, MN, Spring Point Project had a well-attended reception, entitled �Partners on the Shortest Path to the Cure.� The reception highlighted the partnership between the University of Minnesota, particularly the Diabetes Institute for Immunology and Transplantation, and Spring Point Project. The DRWF was acknowledged for its generous financial support.




Spring Point Project President, Tom Cartier, receives the Eleven Who Care Award, September 5, 2007
Spring Point Project President and Chairman of the Board, Tom Cartier, was awarded the Eleven Who Care Award from KARE 11, the NBC television affiliate in Minneapolis. Each year, KARE 11 honors 11 individuals who inspire change in our community. Tom shared the Spring Point story and by the end of the evening had everyone inspired to help find a cure.




Islet Resource Facility Grand Opening, February 7, 2007
Spring Point Project celebrated the grand opening of the Islet Resource Facility on February 7, 2007 with great success. We were very pleased to see so many friends and supporters of Spring Point Project come to New Richmond on this rather ice-cold day to celebrate this event with us. The official opening was done by our President and Chairman of the Board Tom Cartier, together with Mike Gretschel, volunteer president of the Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation.

Cartier Challenge for Diabetes
Tom Cartier established the Cartier Challenge in 1996 to raise funds for the research being done through the partnership of the Diabetes Institute and Spring Point Project and to provide hope for a cure for, and prevention of, diabetes.
